What standard imaging misses
A blow hard enough to concuss is frequently hard enough to displace the upper cervical vertebrae. Standard concussion protocols look at the brain. They do not measure atlas and axis alignment, so a structural injury sitting at the brainstem can go entirely unexamined while the recovery stalls.
What care looks like here
Specialised upper cervical imaging shows whether those bones have moved and by how much. If they have, the correction is calculated from your films and delivered by hand.
